In November, children and staff joined in with Anti-Bullying Week. This is a national event which is celebrated every year by thousands of children across the country.

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2019 was Change Starts With Us. The aims of the theme were as follows:

Small change. Big difference.

Whether it is verbal, physical, online or in-person, bullying has a significant impact on a child’s life well in to adulthood. By making small, simple changes, we can break this cycle and create a safe environment for everyone. Because together, we can challenge bullying. Change starts with a conversation. It starts with checking in. It starts with work together.

Change starts here.
Change starts now.
Change starts with us.

Children spent lots of time discussing what bullying is and how it affects them. They looked at different ways they could support each other in school, and what to do if they saw bullying happening. We linked our learning to Odd Socks Day, which supports the message that we are all unique and to celebrate this.

Children across the school created lots of amazing art work, all with very positive messages. Children in Year 6 wrote some fantastic Anti-Bullying poems. Lots of the great work can be found on display by Main Reception.

Please have a look at the great work that the children produced!
