Physical Education & Sport

Home/Teaching & Learning/Physical Education & Sport

At Oakway Academy we strive to provide an outstanding Physical Education curriculum that is inclusive and engaging for all children.

The children wear their Oakway PE kit with PRIDE as they take part in weekly lessons with our inspiring and experienced team of PE teachers. Each term the children’s learning is focused on skills being taught, practiced and improved then applied to games. All children are taught to self-assess their performance, identify improvements and celebrate successes. The children’s progress is tracked and interventions are put in place to give all children the opportunity to achieve.

The PE curriculum is enhanced by the extensive range of additional sporting activities available to all children in all year groups. These activities include:

In excess of 12 after school sports clubs;

  • Lunchtime clubs;
  • Young Leaders play activities;
  • Holiday Sports Clubs;
  • ‘The Golden Mile’ running track;
  • Participation in local and regional sporting events.
Together we are Growing PRIDE in PE and sport at Oakway Academy
