As usual, it has been all systems go in Year 6!
We have had a second week of mock SATS: vital preparation for the real thing next May, and we were super-impressed with the resilience, determination and ambition shown by all children. They are making good progress and are to be congratulated. Our topic this term has been the Vikings and the children were really enthusiastic, especially when we had a visit from Ulrich the Viking, complete with weaponry, artifacts and Viking games. Check out our other blog for more info and pictures! We completed several fabulous pieces of writing linked to this topic: a diary entry and a newspaper report concerning the first Viking raid on Lindisfarne in AD 793. Next term, our topic will be the Mayans, and we are incredibly excited about this.
Linking to the Mayans, this week we are learning about Christmas in Mexico. Our Christmas song will be the popular Feliz Navidad and we are planning some Mexican-inspired decorations.
From all in Year 6, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and hope you will all have fun with friends and family over the festive period.
